JOSEPH T. MULLEN, 57, of Smithfield, peacefully entered eternal life at home surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, April 26, 2014. Born in Providence, Joe was the son of Marion (Sullivan) and the late John "Bud" Mullen. Cherished husband of Rhonda E. (DeAngelis) for 32 years; beloved father of Joseph P. and Alicia L. Mullen and their fiances Megan and Richard. He was the proud "Papa" of Buddy.
Joe lived his life centered in Christ. His strength and courage on this journey was remarkable; the peace in his heart was comforting. Joe held on to hope until the very end and was saddened to leave us so soon. He assured that he would be watching over us all.
Joe had served in the U.S. Marine Corp. and was a self-employed painting contractor for 28 years.
He leaves behind a brother, Michael; and sisters Deb, Michelle (Edmonds), Mary and Janie Mullen. He was predeceased by his brother John. Cherished son-in-law of Dolores and the late Paul DeAngelis. Beloved brother-in-law of Donna and William Rampone, Paul and Joan DeAngelis and Gerald Edmonds. Treasured uncle to Matthew (Bridget), Michael, Elizabeth, Olivia, Meghan and Marci. Great uncle to Fiona. He will be sorely missed.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, 5-8 p.m. with his funeral on Thursday at 8:30 a.m. from the PONTARELLI-MARINO Home, 971 Branch Avenue, Providence. A Mass of Christian Burial in honor of Joe's life will be celebrated on Thursday, at 9:30 a.m. in St. Pius V Church, Eaton Street, Providence. Burial will follow in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston.
