Born in Oliveri, Sicily he was the son of the late Filippo and Lena (Torre) Barresi.
Joseph was a polisher of fine jewelry at Trifari for many years before his retirement.
He was the loving father of Lena Tundis (Ralph Tundis), Joseph Barresi Jr., and Jean Ranallo (Anthony Ranallo), all from Cranston.
Joseph was the beloved brother of Angelo Barresi, Mary Tramontana, and the late Andrea Barresi.
He was a Cherished Grandfather of Lauren Tundis, Jenna Fusco, Lia and Christian Ranallo,and Great Grandfather of Landon and Ava Fusco.
Joseph was a member of the St. Bartholomew and the Santa Maria Di Prata Societies. He came to America at 20 years of age in pursuit of the American Dream. He was able to quickly become a proud U.S. Citizen, given his mother’s birth in Boston. At the same time, his enduring pride of his Italian heritage remained strong throughout his life. He often spoke about his native Italy’s great composers, artists, and poets.
On Sundays you would find Joseph enjoying his time with his wife, children, and Grandchildren having dinner and listening to Italian music. He was also an avid bocce player, and gardener.
His visitation will be held Friday, November 22, 2024, 9:00-10:30 Am in the Romano Funeral Home, 627 Union Avenue, Providence, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Rocco’s Church 927 Atwood Avenue, Johnston.
