John C. "Red" Walsh, 83, of Canterbury Court, died Friday at Kent Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Filomena (Lupoli) Polselli-Walsh. They were married for forty-five years. Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Hugh and Esther (Goodwin) Walsh. Red worked for the City of Providence Water Supply Board for many years before retiring in 1987. He was a member of the Laborers International Union of North America, Local # 1033. He was a World War II Navy Veteran and a member of the American Legion Wanskuck Post #56. Besides his wife, he leaves a son, David Polselli; a daughter, Linda Meacham; a brother, Dennis Walsh; two sisters, Alice Farrands and Tessie Lane, six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was the father of the late Stephen Polselli and brother of the late Raymond, Alfred, and Richard Walsh, Leonora Vadnais, and Margaret Kent. The funeral and visitation will be Tuesday morning from 8:00 am to 9:15 am in the Russell J. Boyle & Son Funeral Home, 331 Smith Street, Providence. Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in Saint Augustine Church, Mount Pleasant Avenue, Providence. Burial, with military honors, will be in Saint Ann Cemetery, Cranston. Kindly omit flowers.
