David was born and raised in Pawtucket RI, the son of John Francis Pratt and Elizabeth Keenan. He attended St. Mary's School, and later joined the US Army, where he served in Germany as an MP, earning a Good Conduct Medal and sharp-shooter commendations. One of David's proudest moments was serving as personal guard to President Kennedy upon his visit to Germany in 1963.
After the Army, David achieved his dream job as a Providence Firefighter with Mount Pleasant Engine 15 (Academy class of 1968), rising to the rank of lieutenant before retiring.
David was well known for his sharp mind for trivia and numbers, his love of Red Sox baseball, and for his generous and friendly nature.
David leaves behind his devoted daughter Kelly Bastien, son-in-law Marc, and two beloved grandchildren, Noelle and Noah.
He will be laid to rest at the Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery. Catholic memorial services will be private.
