John A. Longo

John enlisted in the U.S. Navy Reserves at 17 and later served time on active duty. He was a Hospital Corpsman and sailed on the USS Rainier and USS Catskill. He received the National Defense Service Medal and a Good Conduct Medal.

John was a graduate of Mt. Pleasant High School and Providence College. After college he worked as a Pharmaceuticals Sales Representative before opening his own dental supply business. He later worked as a Customer Service Representative for the I.R.S. for 29 years and was awarded the Albert Gallatin Award upon his retirement in 2018.

He was the brother of Frank P. Longo and his wife Ellen, Carmela Colaluca and her husband Larry, and the late Philip Longo and his late wife Eileen. He was a dear uncle and great uncle to many nieces and nephews and the close friend and co-worker of Marlene Nhar.

Visitation will be held Thursday from 9:30 – 10:30 AM in PONTARELLI-MARINO FUNERAL HOME, 971 Branch Avenue, Providence followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM in St. Edward Church, 997 Branch Avenue, Providence. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
