Born in Providence, he was the son of the late John F. and Mary (DeAngelis) Capobianco. He was the beloved father of the late John J. and Joey Capobianco. Cherished grandfather of Jack and Nico Capobianco and brother of Stephen Capobianco and his wife, Julie. He also leaves two nieces, Dr. Sara Capobianco and Jenna Capobianco, and his former wife Lucille (Miragliuolo) Capobianco.
Jack graduated from LaSalle Academy in 1963 and St. Francis College in Biddeford, Maine in 1967. He was an active member of the St. Francis/University of New England (UNE) alumni association and enjoyed taking trips to Maine each Fall for Alumni Weekend with his cousin, Gary. Jack received his Masters Degree in Sociology from Boston College and after graduation, began working in the social services field. In 1970 he became Executive Director of Training Thru Placement, a social service agency for adults with disabilities until his retirement in 2013. Jack owned several thoroughbred racehorses with his brother Steve and raced successfully at Narragansett Park, Lincoln Downs, Suffolk Downs and more. In his spare time, Jack enjoyed playing golf and spending time with his two grandsons who were the light of his life. He will be remembered as a generous spirit who enjoyed helping other people, especially the disadvantaged.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial in Saint Robert Bellarmine Church, 1804 Atwood Avenue, Johnston on Wednesday, December 14th at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be private.
