Joan M. Gannon, (Maine) 77, of North Kingstown, died peacefully on October 31, 2015. She leaves her loving husband of 55 years, Bernard E. Gannon, Sr., former Police Chief of the City of Providence and later of the Town of Burrillville. Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Henry C. and Madeline (Holman) Maine. Besides her husband, she leaves her children, Kelly Cummings and her husband Michael, Daniel Gannon (Ret. PPD) and his wife Angela, Bernard Gannon Jr. (PPD) and his wife Elizabeth, and Michael Gannon; eight beloved grandchildren, Samantha, Nicholas (NPPD), Jake, Alec, Cole, Jacklyn, Grace and Samuel; and her siblings, Henry Maine (Ret. CFD), Daniel Maine (Ret. PFD), Barbara Burgess, Sally Grayson, Herbert Maine (Ret. PFD) and Kathleen Maine. Joan was the sister of the late Walter Wall (Ret. CFD), William Maine (Ret. CFD) and Marie Gallant. Her funeral will be held on Wednesday at 8:30 am, from the Russell J. Boyle & Son Funeral Home, 142 Centerville Road (Route 117 - Exit 10 off I-95) Warwick. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am, in Saint Francis de Sales Church, 381 School Street, North Kingstown. Interment will be in Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery, Exeter. Visiting hours, Tuesday 4:00 to 7:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory to Saint Elizabeth Community, One Saint Elizabeth Way, East Greenwich, RI 02818 would be appreciated.
