Born in Pawtucket, he was the son of the late Bernard and Evelyn (Palmer) Ward and brother of the late Bonnie Ward.
James served honorably in the United States Air Force during the Korean War.
He was employed by Flagstaff Food Services and was a member of the Teamsters Union and Local Union 271 until his retirement.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his son, Scott Ward.
His funeral will be held Monday, March 6th at 10:00 a.m. in the Pontarelli-Marino Home, 971 Branch Ave, Providence followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. in St. Ann Church, 280 Hawkins St, Providence. Burial with Military Honors will follow in St. Francis Cemetery.
