James McCarthy

Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Justin and Elizabeth (Rafferty) McCarthy, and had been the beloved husband of Beatrice (Coppola) McCarthy for 53 years.

He was the devoted father to James McCarthy Jr. and his wife, Judith, Karen Musumeci and her husband, Thomas Jr., Maureen Fogarty and her husband, Eugene Jr.; cherished grandfather of Thomas and Justin Musumeci, Ryan and Kelsey Fogarty, Brenna and Jaden McCarthy; brother of Justin McCarthy and Mary DeMarco.

Mr. McCarthy had served with the U.S. Coast Guard in search & rescue missions during the Korean War and retired as a production specialist for CIBA-Geigy Chemical Co. He was also an avid NY Giants fan.

Visitation will be held Sunday, 4:30-7:30 p.m. with a funeral on Monday at 10 a.m. from the PONTARELLI-MARINO Home, 971 Branch Avenue, Providence. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. in St. Anthony Church, 1413 Mineral Spring Avenue, North Providence, followed by burial with Military Honors in St. Francis Cemetery, Pawtucket.
