Irene Coletta passed away on September 17 at the age of 87, in Bonita Springs, Florida. Beloved wife of 61 years to Ulisse Coletta, devoted mother to Malinda Coletta and her husband Phillip Griffin; Elissa Coletta O’Brien and her husband Timothy O’Brien; cherished grandmother of Mia Pfefferle and her husband Kyle, Patrick O’Brien, Christina O’Brien and Sarah Griffin, great-grandmother to Collins Pfefferle and loving sister to Linda Wilson. Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Humbert and Angela (DiChiara) Armao.
A lifelong communicant of St Pius V Church in Providence, Irene was a eucharistic minister, lector, and led many successful Capital fundraising campaigns for the church and school. She was a graduate of St Pius V School and the recipient of the St Pius Veritas Award in 2005 in recognition of her commitment to the gospel in her professional and public life.
She was a graduate of St Xaviers Academy and was an active alumnae board member. Irene earned her Bachelor's Degree in Accounting from Bryant University and was a member of Alpha Phi Kappa Sorority.
Her funeral will be held Monday, September 26, 2022 at 9:00 AM. from the Pontarelli-Marino Home, 971 Branch Ave, Providence followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM. in St. Pius V Church, Eaton Street Providence. Graveside burial will follow in St. Francis Cemetery, Pawtucket. Visiting hours will be held Sunday, September 25, 2022 from 3:00-6:00 PM.
