She was born in Providence in 1944 to the late Ferdinando and Josephine (Lambrese) Cardarelli She graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School in 1964 and worked at the Miriam Hospital for over 37 years, before retiring in 2011.
She was the beloved mother of Raymond (Angela) DaCosta of Lincoln, RI and Nicole (William) Shadel of McMurray, PA, and was a devoted and adoring grandmother (“Nonna”) to her four grandchildren, Sofia and Domenica DaCosta, and Mila and Gustav Shadel.
Also surviving is her dear sister, Jeanne (Andrew) Raimondi of Bristol, RI and her loving niece and goddaughter Juliana Raimondi of Oakland, CA.
She was fortunate to have a wonderful group of friends with whom she would share many laughs, much food, and good wine.
In her retirement, she enjoyed traveling, working with the Pannese Society of Rhode Island and former board member, a member of the Red Hat Society, a volunteer for the RI Board of Elections, volunteering to help the underserved, and spending time with friends and family.
All who knew her will miss her larger than life personality, sense of humor and generosity.
Visitation and funeral services will be held on Friday, January 11th from 9:15 to 10:15 am in the PONTARELLI-MARINO Home, 971 Branch Avenue, Providence, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in St. Ambrose Catholic Church, 191 School Street, Albion, RI. Burial will be in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston.
