Gilbert Calise, age 87, passed away unexpectedly March 29, 2022. Born in Providence, he was a resident of North Providence and Frostproof, FL. He was a son of the late Joseph and Santa (Mazzone) Calise; beloved husband of the late Marie (Olivo) Calise; loving father of Joseph Calise and his wife Jan, Jodi Calise, Robert Calise and his wife Darlene, Debra Calise, Anthony Calise, and Johnny Calise; grandfather of 10; and great-grandfather of 10. He was predeceased by his 9 siblings.
Gilbert proudly served in the United States Navy for 30 years. He was a truck driver until his retirement.
His visitation and funeral will be held Monday at 9:30 a.m. in the Pontarelli-Marino Home, 971 Branch Ave, Providence followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. in St. Anthony Church, 1413 Mineral Spring Ave, North Providence. Burial with military honors will follow in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to the St. Edward Food and Wellness Center, 1001 Branch Ave, Providence, RI 02904.
