Frank A. Coppa, 83, of Sarasota, FL died peacefully on January 2, 2019.
Born in Providence, RI in 1935, he was a son of the late Francesco and Conchetta Coppa, who were originally from the island of Ischia, Italy.
Besides his beloved wife of 55 years Eleanor, he leaves one daughter Christine Halliwell (Bruce), two grandchildren, Grace and Johnathan Halliwell of Petaluma, CA, a son Frank Coppa, II of Kansas City, MO and grandson Frank Coppa, III; son Brian J. Coppa of Tempe, AZ, along with many nieces and nephews.
He was a 1955 graduate of LaSalle Academy in Providence, RI, and was a 1960 graduate of Providence College.
In 1965 he moved to Cumberland, MD, to become the Director of Urban Renewal for the city. Thereafter, he went on to join the State of Maryland in the Real Estate Division as Land Acquisition Officer. In addition, he opened a family operated Mister Donut with a gas business before retiring to Sarasota in the late 90's.
Frank was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Sarasota, and a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus. Also, he was a past board member of the GCICS Italian Cultural Society.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, January 18 at 10:00 am in Saint Pius V Church, Eaton Street, Providence, to which relatives and friends are invited. Interment will follow in Saint Ann Cemetery, Cranston. Visiting hours are respectfully omitted.
Should ones desire, donations for the purchase of floral arrangements will be collected prior to the Mass at the Church.
