ProvidenceFlorence I. (Radican) Dempsey, 86, of Compton Street, died Saturday at home surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late Joseph B. Dempsey. Born in Providence, she was a daughter of the late John and Mary (Henry) Radican. Mrs. Dempsey was a medical transcriptionist at Our Lady of Fatima Hospital, North Providence, for many years before retiring. Florence was a communicant of Saint Augustine Church, and a member of the parish Rosary & Altar Society.She leaves a daughter, Mary J. Dempsey, with whom she made her home; three sons, Joseph B. Dempsey, Jr. and his wife, Marybeth, James M. Dempsey, and his wife, Catherine, and Michael E. Dempsey; a sister, Mary Avary; six loving grandchildren, James, Chandra, Daniel, Jennifer, John, and Benjamin, and five beloved great-grandchildren. She was the mother of the late John K. Dempsey, and sister of the late Joseph, Henry, John and Richard Radican, Rita Cuddy, and Barbara McVey. The funeral will be held Wednesday, at 8:45 am, from the Russell J. Boyle & Son Funeral Home, 331 Smith Street, Providence. Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in Saint Augustine Church, Mount Pleasant Avenue, Providence. Burial will be in Saint Ann Cemetery, Cranston. Visiting hours Tuesday, 4 - 8 pm.
