Born August 12, 1921, to Benjamin and Rose (Barr) Feinstein of New Bedford and the youngest of six, upon graduation from New Bedford High School, he studied engineering. He enlisted in the Navy and served in WWII as an airplane engineer trained in Quonset Point and Floyd Bennett. He landed at the Naval Air Force base in Puerto Rico and when asked how many planes he put together per month? "Two. They were very big planes!” His wit was impeccable, his smile was infectious and his handshake was always honored in business.
Elliott married the love of his life, Pauline {Liss} Feinstein who passed in 2015. Together they owned The Orpheum Cloak Store, fine women's apparel in the South End, before owning Tropical Tea & Coffee, for 50 years they imported and roasted gourmet coffee and tea serving the Southcoast and Cape Cod restaurants. He was proud to have served as President of the Northeast Regional Coffee Roaster Association. Elliott and Pauline moved to Westport, MA in 1989 to a tranquil, peaceful home where you could see the stars at night.
Nothing gave him more joy than sharing his time and love with family, friends, and Tifereth Israel Synagogue, serving on the Cemetery board for ten years with Pauline. He always had a twinkle in his eyes, a smile, and joy. But alas, never being late for an appointment or a party, Elliott felt it was time to go.
Elliott is survived by his children Elissa Feinstein and Jonathan Feinstein, nieces, nephews, and cousins who provided immense joy.
He was predeceased by his five siblings, Charlotte Pekow, Molly Goodman, Helen Horvitz, Jerry Feinstein and Ralph Feinstein.
Relatives and friends are invited to his Graveside Service on Sunday, October 30, 2022 at 1:00 PM in Plainville Cemetery, 1400 Old Plainville Rd., New Bedford.
Donations may be made in Elliott’s honor to Tifereth Israel Synagogue, 145 Brownell Ave., New Bedford, MA 02740.
Arrangements are in the care of Sugarman-Sinai Memorial Chapel.
