Eleanor A. Rooney

Eleanor A. Rooney, age 77, passed away December 29, 2014 at West View Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late John L. and Agnes G. (Shea) Rooney. She is survived by her brothers, John T. Rooney and his wife Irene, and Thomas E. Rooney all of Warwick; 11 nieces and nephews, including Mary Ellen Danzer of Coventry. She was the sister of the late Maureen E. Mattos.

Eleanor was a graduate of St. Patrick’s High School and retired from the City of Providence, Department of Vital Statistics. She will be remembered for her thoughtfulness in sending cards or birthday wishes to her beloved family and friends.

Visitation will be held Friday 4-7 p.m. Her funeral will be on Saturday at 9 a.m. from the PONTARELLI-MARINO Home, 971 Branch Avenue, Providence. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. in St. Agnes Church, 100 Chatham Street, Providence. Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery, Pawtucket. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the West View Nursing Center, Activities Fund, 239 Legris Avenue, West Warwick, RI 02893.
