Dorothy "Mimi" DiPrete, 85, passed away February 12, 2018. Born Yolanda Dorothy Monteparo in Providence in 1932 to Elviro Monteparo and Lenora Achille, and sister to Lavinia Verbiest. Married at age 18 to her one and only love, John DiPrete, they enjoyed twenty-eight wonderful years together until his death. Beloved mother to three children, John DiPrete, Jr., Diane DiPrete, and Stephanie DiPrete, and adored grandmother to Jennifer Douglas, Christopher Sparling, Gilchrist DiPrete, Sheelah DiPrete, Mikayla Souza, Lenora Souza, Rodney Souza, Jr., and great-grandmother to Mia Douglas, Ava, Jacob, and Ella Jean.
An avid card player, Dorothy enjoyed playing Hi-Lo Jack in the Sal Mancini Senior Center League. Family and friends will remember her always for her love and laughter, and for her belief that each and every one of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were geniuses, future presidents, and/or future major league Hall-of-Famers. Dorothy's greatest joy came from attending their sporting events and play/music performances. Never was there a sideline, or a seat in a theater, where their Mimi could not be found cheering and offering her unyielding love and support. Her life was a blessing to everyone who knew her; she will be missed, always and forever, in ways words cannot adequately describe
Visitation and funeral will be held Friday, 9-10:30 a.m. in the Pontarelli-Marino Home, 971 Branch Avenue, Providence, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in St. Anthony Church, 1413 Mineral Spring Avenue, North Providence. Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery, Pawtucket.
