

West Warwick Clayton G. Hazelton, Sr., 90, of West Warwick, passed away peacefully at home on September 2nd, 2014. He was the beloved husband of Gertrude F. (Hutchinson) Hazelton to whom he was married for sixty-nine years. Born in Providence, a son of the late Charles I. and Annie G. (Morrison) Hazelton, Sr., he lived in Rumford and Seekonk, Massachusetts for many years before moving to West Warwick. In addition to his wife Trudy, he is survived by a daughter, Candace Perez, and a son, Dr. Clayton G. Hazelton, Jr. and his wife Nikki; four loving grandchildren, Joseph and Jason Perez and Brittany and Brandon Hazelton, and a brother, Kenneth Hazelton. He was a brother of the late Charles I. Hazelton, Jr., John Hazelton, Sr. and Candace Bruggee. Before retiring in 1988, he was the vice-president of sales and part owner of the former Newman Crosby Steel Co., Inc., of Pawtucket. He served honorably in the United States Navy during World War II and was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross and Air Medal while based on Okinawa, Japan. Clayton was a past member of Wannamoisett Country Club and Monarch Country Club, Palm City, Florida, the ToKalon Club in Pawtucket, and a communicant of Saint Gregory the Great Church. The funeral will be held Monday, at 9:45 am, from the Russell J. Boyle J. Son & Funeral Home, 142 Centerville Road, (Rt117) Warwick. Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am in Saint Gregory the Great Church, 360 Cowesett Road, Warwick. Burial, with military honors, will be in Swan Point Cemetery, Providence. Visiting hours Sunday, 4 - 7 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations to the V.F.W., P.O. Box 702, Coventry, R.I. 02816 in his memory will be appreciated.
