Barbara A. " Brenda " (Poxon) Sousa, 77, passed away peacefully on September 30, 2017. She was the beloved wife of the late John Pacheco Sousa and daughter of the late Ernest and Rose (Reynolds) Poxon. Barbara is survived by her sons, John Sousa, Jr. (Marjorie) of East Providence, James Sousa (Helena) of East Providence, her daughters, Cynthia Couto of Woonsocket, Mary Leal (Joseph) of Warwick, Melissa Matias of East Providence, a step daughter, Patricia Sousa of Providence, a brother, Ernest Poxon, Jr., a sister, Edyth Gulowacz, 19 Grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, and 3 great great grandchildren. She was the step mother of the late, Antonetta Schnitzler and sister of the late, Dorothy Tancrede, Alfred Poxon, and Charles Poxon. Visitation Sunday, 1 - 4, pm, in the Russell J. Boyle and Son Funeral Home, 331 Smith St. Providence. Burial will be private. Barbara's family would like to thank the hospice nurses, Jen Tullo and Kristin Correia.
