Barbara Joanne Flanagan

Born in Providence she was the daughter of the late John Joseph and Rosina ( Avanzo ) Groccia, Sr.

Barbara worked in the business office at Roger Williams Hospital for 30 years before retiring in 2016. She was an avid reader, enjoyed concerts and attending live local music venues with her late husband Jack.

Mrs. Flanagan is survived by her son Jeffrey E. Flanagan and his wife Tiffany of Cranston, her grandson Nolan J. Flanagan, brother John J. Groccia, Jr and his wife Annette of West Warwick and Richard Groccia and his wife Susie of Brooklyn, NY. She also leaves many nieces and nephews.

Barbara was the sister of the late Maria Zonfrillo.

Funeral service will be held Tuesday, May 23, 2023 at 11:00 am in the Russell J. Boyle and Son Funeral Home, 331 Smith Street, Providence. Burial will follow at the Rhode Island Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery, Exeter, RI. Family and friends are invited to call Monday, May 22, 2023 from 4:00-7:00 pm in the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the American Heart Association.
