Anthony I. Mattera, 84, passed away January 22, 2018. Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Giovanni and Fortuna (Migliaccio) Mattera, and brother of the late Marie Petrucci, Filomena Petrucci, Yolanda Pacitto, Salvatore, John and Gennaro Mattera. He is survived by several nieces and nephews.
Anthony served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was raised in the Federal Hill neighborhood where he helped manage the family owned Mattera’s Market.
Visitation and funeral will be held Friday, 9:30-10:30 a.m. in the PONTARELLI-MARINO Home, 971 Branch Avenue, Providence, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in St. Mary Church, 1525 Cranston Street, Cranston. Graveside burial with military honors will be in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the East Providence Senior Center, 610 Waterman Avenue, East Providence, RI 02914.
