

Providence Anne M. (Mitchell) Sugrue, R.N., 94, of Providence, passed away Sunday evening, October 1, 2017 at home. She was the wife of the late Michael J. Sugrue.Born in Williamstown, Co. Galway, Ireland she was the daughter of the late Patrick and Ellie (Kaine) Mitchell. After graduating from Hackney Hospital School of Nursing she began her practice in London during World War II. Anne arrived in Rhode Island in 1950 where she continued her nursing at The Miriam Hospital as a Pediatric Nurse. She joined Our Lady of Fatima nursing service where she worked for 30 years before retiring. She was a member of the Irish Ceilidhe Club of Rhode Island for many years.She leaves a daughter, Eileen A. Dobbing, R.N.; four sons, Michael P. Sugrue and his wife Marjorie, Timothy P. Sugrue and his wife Pamela, Sean S. Sugrue and his wife Kristyn, and Joseph P. Sugrue and his wife Kristina; eight grandchildren, Tara, R.N., William, Peter, Nicole, Alyssa, Cameron, Carly, and Maggie, and two great-grandchildren, Emily and Landon. She was a sister of the late John, Joseph, Peter, Patrick, and Martin Joe Mitchell, and Marguerite Timothy.The funeral will be held Thursday, at 8:45 am, from the Russell J. Boyle & Son funeral Home, 331 Smith Street, Providence. Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in Blessed Sacrament Church, 179 Academy Avenue, Providence. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Providence. Visiting hours Wednesday, 4:00 - 8:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Gloria Gemma Breast Cancer Foundation, 249 Roosevelt Ave, Pawtucket, RI 02860 in her memory will be appreciated.
