

Providence Alfred M. "Archie" Farrell, 84, formerly of Lynde Street, passed away peacefully Sunday morning, February 5, 2012, at the Hebert Health Center, Smithfield. He was the husband of the late Genevieve "Jean" (Martin) Johnson Farrell. Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Henry J. and Helen (Murray) Farrell. Archie was a professional bartender for many years, having worked in various establishments throughout Rhode Island, including many of the major hotels, and restaurants. Always a smiling face behind the bar, he was as happy to see his customers as they were to see him. He also worked at the Benny's warehouse in Esmond, with over twenty-five years of service, before retiring. He served his country proudly in the United States Coast Guard during World War II and the United States Navy during the Korean War. Archie was a communicant of Saint Augustine Church, enjoyed going to the beach, and especially loved spending time with his many nieces and nephews. He leaves a sister, Eileen P. Lewis; and numerous nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand- nephews. He was a brother of the late Mary L. Jones, Dorothy A. Farrell, Henry J. Farrell, J. Vincent Farrell, and Gerald F. Farrell, (PFD). The funeral will be held Saturday, at 9:45 am, from the Russell J. Boyle & Son Funeral Home, 331 Smith Street, Providence. Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am in Saint Augustine Church, 639 Mount Pleasant Avenue, Providence. Burial, with military honors, will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Providence. Visiting hours Friday, 5 - 7 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations to Home & Hospice Care of RI, 1085 North Main Street, Providence, RI 02904 in his memory will be appreciated.
