Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Berthelemy and Soufrina (Beliveau) Martineau. He was the husband of the late Josephine T. Martineau. They were married 61 years before her passing this last January.
Albert was the beloved father of 7 children: Clare Dunn and her husband, Jerry, Lawrence Martineau and his wife Rosalie, Donna Amaral and her husband Thomas, Leonard Martineau, Joseph Martineau and his wife Catherine, John Martineau and his wife Patricia, Steven Martineau and his wife Precilinda; grandfather of 13: Michael Dunn and his wife, Janet, Robert Dunn and his wife, Jennifer, Peter Martineau and his wife Sarah, Brian Martineau and his wife Ashley, Cheryl Huntley and her husband Ernest, James Martineau, Stephanie, Jessica and Kevin, Daniel and Jason, and David and Eric Martineau; and great-grandfather of 6: Nicholas and Julia Dunn, Madison Dunn, Lukas and Liliana Huntley and Samuel Martineau; he was brother of the late Wilfred Martineau, Leo Martineau, Annette Bielawski, Louise Fox and Anne Boudreau, and is survived by Sisters-in-law Lillian Martineau and Lorraine Martineau, and many nieces and nephews.
Mr. Martineau was a devout Catholic and was a member of the Catholic Family Movement of St. Edward's Church.
Albert was a Veteran of WWII, having served in the Army Air Corps as a tail-gunner for the Triangle “A” Bomb Group. He was awarded the DISTINGUISHED FLYING CROSS and several other decorations for his service.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, 4-7 p.m. with a funeral on Thursday at 8 a.m. from the PONTARELLI-MARINO Home, 971 Branch Avenue, Providence. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9 a.m. in St. Edward Church, 997 Branch Avenue, Providence, followed by interment with Full Honors in the RI Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Exeter.
