Rodney D. Jacobson

Rod was born in Deertrail, Colorado on June 1, 1935 to Harold and Leola (Archer) Jacobson. He was raised mostly in Corbett, Oregon and entered into the U.S. Army in May of 1957 until honorable discharged in April 1964. Rodney and Virginia Lee (Moerke) knew each other as children threw the neighborhood and family, it wasn’t till later that they grew closer when Rod went into the military they corresponded to each other thru letters and when he came home on leave they married on August 21, 1959 in Vancouver, Washington. Rod has worked as an auto mechanic for many different dealerships in Oregon and in Washington where they lived. He moved to Prineville from Vancouver in 1974 where he has worked for Shrum Ford, Wright Ford, and Dave Hamilton in Redmond. He retired in 1993. He and Virginia become snowbirds in their RV to Arizona and traveled many other places. Rod loved to watch NASCAR racing and enjoyed building hot rods. He enjoyed the outdoors hunting, fishing, camping. Rod also enjoyed a good conversation about politics to most anyone. Rod will be missed greatly from his family and many friends.

Rod is survived by his wife of 53 years and best friend Virginia Jacobson of Prineville, two daughters Shelly Olheiser and her husband Calvin of Redmond, and Cecile Fulton and her husband Richard of Powell Butte and one son Clarence (Butch) Holt and his wife Wilma Jo of Ariel, WA, two sisters Cheryl and Marge and three brothers Danny Jacobson of Denver, Colorado, Dick Jacobson and his wife Shirley and Dean Jacobson and his wife Carolyn of Prineville, and 7 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren with One great grandson on the way and 8 great great grandchildren with One great great grandson on the way.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother Charlie Jacobson in 1966.
