A Graveside service will be held on Tuesday, November 22, 2011at 2:00 p.m. at Juniper Haven Cemetery. Officated by Pastor Dan Parks of Prineville Christian Church.
She was born November 17, 1934 in Baker, Oregon, to Maxine B. (Waymire) and Silas P. Taylor. Pat graduated from Crook County High School in 1952 in Prineville, Oregon, where she married Norman Harry Evans on August 27, 1956. They had four daughters – Beth, Norma, Susie, and Penny – and were happily married for 18 years before Norm was killed in a car accident.
After being employed for several years as a legal secretary, Pat became the first female Justice of the Peace for Crook County when she was appointed by the governor in 1972. She was sworn in by her father, who was the current Justice of the Peace. After her appointment, she ran for re-election and won.
In 1975 she married Edward McCallen. Together they operated a construction company in Alaska for many years before returning to Oregon, where they later divorced. She moved to McMinnville in November 1999.
Pat was a smart, funny, and sharp lady who enjoyed rowdy family games & pinochle, keeping up-to-date on worldwide news via the internet, and gritty not-for-the-faint-of-heart crime dramas. During Pat’s time in McMinnville, she loved playing dominos and spending time with her many “Ladybug” friends. She was a unique, loving mother and grandmother, and she will be greatly missed by her friends and family.
Pat is survived by her brother and sister-in-law Jim and Shirley Taylor of Bend, Oregon; her four daughters: Beth Conrad (Dr. Wayne Conrad) of Edgewood, Washington; Norma Evans (Dave Andrich) of Bend, Oregon; Susie Scutt (Don Scutt) of Cordova, Alaska; and Penny Evans of McMinnville, Oregon; and six grandchildren: Jamison Schuetz of Corvallis, Oregon; Shannon Evans of Salem, Oregon; Nicholas Schuetz (Rachael Schuetz) of Bend, Oregon; Katharine Conrad of Bellingham, Washington; Nathaniel Conrad (Hailey Poole) of Everett, Washington; and Will Scutt of Kansas City, Kansas.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers Ted and Tom, and her husband Norm(1974).
Pat was a strong supporter of her local food bank. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to your local food bank, YCAP of McMinnville, Oregon, St. Vincent DePaul in Prineville, or the Salvation Army.
