Born April 10, 1929, in Anawalt, West Virginia, in McDowell County, he was a US Army Corporal serving during the Korean War. He was a retired coal truck driver and a beekeeper for many years. He loved his honey bees and nature. He was of the Baptist Faith.
He is the son of the late Troy and Rosa Taylor. He is preceded in death by two brothers, Fred and George Taylor, and one sister, Gertrude Eans, and infant brother Walter, sister Mildred; and one great granddaughter, Ambrianna Bryant.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Shirley Sluss Taylor, four children, Natalie Darlene Taylor and special friend George Tapia of Los Lunas, NM, Vinson Taylor Jr. and wife Sharlot of Wythville, VA; Anthony Taylor and special friend, Annette Campbell of Anawalt, WV; and Troy Taylor and wife Tammy of Danville, OH; Nine grandchildren , Heather Taylor of Princeton, WV, Vinson Taylor III of Dublin, VA, Jason Taylor of Princeton, WV, Michael Taylor of Welch, WV, Anthony Taylor, Jr. of Abbs Valley, VA, Eric Taylor of Anawalt, WV, Josh Taylor of Columbus, OH, Sara Taylor of Danville, OH Matthew Taylor of Wythville, VA; Fifteen great-grandchildren. Three Sisters, Dora Defelice of Welch, WV, Gladys Brackett of Baxter, KY, Blanche Sneed of TN.
Services will be conducted at Roselawn Funeral Home Chapel on Monday, June 10, 2013 at 11:00a.m. with Reverend Curtis Honaker, and Pastor James Bassett officiating. Interment will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
Friends may call from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. the day of the service.
Pallbearers are Anthony Taylor, Jr., Vinson Taylor III, Jason Taylor, Michael Taylor, Josh Taylor, and Eric Taylor.
