Born December 12, 1921 in Vulcan, WV, he was the son of the late Zinc and Anna (Crawford) Mounts. A retired coal miner, Howard was a former employee of Urps Metal Co. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and was known in the Davy area for cracking black walnuts and giving them away. He faithfully served his country during WWII in the United States Navy.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brother Raymond Mounts and four sisters – Kathleen Mounts, Margaret Moore, Lucille Smith and Janice Swimms.
He will be sadly missed by his wife, Gladys (Morgan) Mounts, son Rodney McCoy of Weber City, VA; daughter Sue Ellen Sizemore and husband Jack of NC; four grandchildren – Cortney McCoy, Jackie McCoy Neal, Amy Ranson and Quida Linkous. Also, five great-grandchildren and special friend, Alisha Cassell of Hawkins County, TN.
Funeral services for Howard will be held at the Roselawn Funeral Home Chapel, 450 Courthouse Rd., Princeton, WV on Saturday, March 2, 2013 at 3:00 p.m. with Pastor John Branham officiating. Visitation will be held from 1:00-3:00 p.m. at the funeral home chapel. Entombment will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
