PRINCETON- Edward Leo Matson, of 117 Garden Oaks, Princeton, WV died March 9, 2017 at the Princeton Community Hospital.
Born March 14, 1931, Leo was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. R.N. Matson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant son, Kevin Edward ; and two sisters, Mary Ella Veneri and Ruby Lee Surface.
Survivors include his loving wife, Louise; sons, Todd Matson and wife, Karen of Beckley, WV and Rodney Matson and Beverly Tyson of Wake Forest, NC; granddaughters, Ashley Matson Smith and husband, Brandon and Alysha Matson; and a step-grandson, James Tuggle.
Leo worked on the N&W Railroad for 8 ½ years and retired from General Telephone Co. following 25 years of service. He had served his country proudly in the United States Army during the Korean War.
Leo was a member of the Carr Memorial UMC for many years and loved his church members.
Military Graveside Services will be held Friday March 10, 2017 at 3:00PM with Rev. Gerald Roberts officiating. Those wishing to attend the services are asked to gather at the Last Supper Garden at Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Princeton.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in his memory to the Carr Memorial UMC at Glenwood Park.
