We are deeply saddened at the passing of our dear Mother, Auntie, Grams, Grandma and Nana. She passed away peacefully, with her loving family by her side. Betty Anne was born November 15, 1934 in Oliver, B. C.. She and her three older brothers spent their childhoods on the family’s fruit orchard in Oliver. She worked on the farm and helped her Dad deliver the mail. Mom’s lifelong passion was to become a school teacher. After attending normal school in Victoria, Mom traveled north for a teaching contract in Quesnel where she met Dave Foster. Mom put her teaching career on hold so they could marry and then start a family. Four kids later, Mom was widowed in 1964 and had to resume her teaching career. Betty Anne taught elementary school in Quesnel for 35 years serving at Barlow Creek, Riverview, Bouchie Lake and Baker elementary schools. She absolutely loved teaching children. She also loved her harp, her garden, bird watching and walks in nature. In 2018 Mom reluctantly left her lake shore home in Quesnel to be closer to her Prince George family.
Betty Anne was predeceased by her first husband Dave Foster in 1964, her second husband, Bruce Russell in 2013 and her beloved son, Bradley in 2016. Mom leaves to mourn sons Bill (Judy), Brian (Tanya), daughter Bevanne (Olli), daughter-in-law Earn, step son Aaron (Dorothy), numerous grands, greats and her four legged buddy, Winston.
A big thank you to Dr. Clossen, Dr. Grose, Dr. Russell, the staff at UNHBC’s short stay medical, UNHBC Rehab, the staff at Laurier Manor and the wonderful team at Hospice House.
Our Mom was a quiet, gentle soul who respected Mother Earth and every living being. While in nature, she left no trace and always endeavoured to leave things as she found them.
