It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Anica Nadfey who left this world on May 30, 2024. She was a cherished wife, mother, grandmother and friend and she touched the lives of many.
Anica was born in Croatia, a communist controlled part of Yugoslavia, where she learned to be a seamstress. She met and married Ivan Nadfey in Croatia and gave birth to a son. Ivan, being a political activist, fled Yugoslavia to Canada. Anica followed two years later; managing to finally cross the border after being apprehended twice under gunpoint with her infant child in hand. She managed to escape to Italy, with the help of the kind Catholic nuns, was able to make her way to Canada and be reunited with her husband Ivan. They lived in Victoria, Nelson and South Slokan, for a brief period, before finding their home in Prince George; which gave them and their children Goldie, Mirko and Julia a wonderful and prosperous life. Sadley we lost Ivan and sister Mira a few years ago.
Anica was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend with unwavering loyalty for the people in her life who will, without a doubt, forever cherish her memory.
A Graveside Service for Anica will be held Tuesday, June 11, 2024 at 1:30 PM at Memorial Park Cemetery, 1908 Queensway, Prince George, British Columbia.
