He leaves his wife of 62 years, Janelle Maness McNeal; 3 children Mark & Diane McNeal Smith of Elmira, New York, William Andrew "Andy" & Tracy Birdsong McNeal of Prattville, and Dr. Neville & Kay McNeal Duarte of Montgomery; 9 grandchildren: Mark Smith Jr., Bobby & Crysten Smith Nebhut, Jas. & Amber Smith of Winchester, Kentucky, Chris & Lauren Smith Breed, Luke & Jaemi Smith Hemphill of Jacksonville, Florida, Caleb McNeal, Noelle Wright, Jeremiah Wright and Dwayne Childress; 19 great-grandchildren; 2 Sisters: Ross and Joyce McNeal Minor and Opal McNeal Allman (preceded by John) of Gautier, Mississippi; 6 brothers: Thomas & Marie McNeal, Mack McNeal of Montgomery,
Doug & Debbie McNeal, W.C. Junior & Betty McNeal, David McNeal, and Joe & Ann McNeal; a special cousin William Thomas "Buddy" & Cindy Hamilton, 1 sister-in-law Edwin and Lillian Maness Talton of Sylacauga, Alabama, and 2 brother-in-laws Jimmy & Brenda Maness of Bessemer, and Freddie Hughes (preceded by Patricia Maness Hughes) of Sylacauga; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Mr. McNeal, who was born in Coosa County, Alabama, retired after 55 years from Giles Enterprises, Inc., in Montgomery, where he had 7 US Pattens and served as Plant Manager and Head of Research & Development. He worked until he was 80 years old, and, also worked for Montgomery Tin Shop for 5 years and Gurney Manufacturing Industries in Prattville 6 years prior to joining Giles Enterprises. Mr. McNeal was a charter member and Deacon of Camellia Baptist Church in Prattville. He is preceded in death by his father, William Clyde McNeal, Sr., his mother, Violet Higgins McNeal, and sister Shirley Jean McNeal.
Visitation will be at 1 pm at Camellia Baptist Church, Prattville, Tuesday, January 12, followed by the funeral service at 2 pm,. Graveside services will be at 3 pm at Prattville Memory Gardens. Officiating the service will be the Rev. James Taylor, Dr, Rick Marshall, and Bro. Michael (Rock) Smith. Pall Bearers are: Nephews: Tommy McNeal of Mobile, Heath McNeal, Nick Minor, Jim Dodd all of Prattville, Michael McNeal of Mobile, Brian Hughes, Robbie Langley and Eric Dennis all of Sylacauga. Honorary Pallbearers will be Mr. McNeal's nephew, Scott McNeal, Mr. McNeal's Camellia Baptist Church Sunday School Class and Deacons of Camellia Baptist Church in Prattville, Giles Enterprises and Giles Food Services, David Byrd, Bill Giles, John Giles all of Montgomery, Ted Giles of Birmingham, and Doug Burnette of Slinger, Wisconsin.
