Morris Joshua Jackson, 93, of Deatsville and a former longtime Mobile, Alabama resident, passed away Monday June 18, 2018. A Celebration of Life was held at 11:00 AM Thursday June 21st. at the Boones Chapel Baptist Church with Pastor Phil Winningham officiating. Burial with military honors were held at 11:00 AM Friday June 22 at the Mobile Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Jackson was born on September 12, 1924 in Talladega Springs, Alabama to the late Morris David Jackson and Mary Watters Jackson. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II serving in Europe. He graduated from the University of Alabama with a Bachelor’s Degree in chemical engineering.
Mr. Jackson was a retired chemical engineer with thirty-nine and half years of service with the International Paper Company in Mobile. He was a member of the Dauphin Way Baptist Church of Mobile for over 60 years. He enjoyed music and singing.
Other than his parents he is preceded in death by his loving wife of over 56 years, Irma Caraway Jackson. Survivors include his son and daughter in law, Steve and DiAnna Jackson; two daughters and sons in law, Kathy and Wayne Jones, Pam and Tommy Shaver; two sisters, Virginia Jackson, Martha Hinton; two brothers, David Jackson, Francis Jackson; ten grandchildren, five great grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions were requested to go to Talladega Springs Senior Center, 40 Granberry Dr., Talladega, Alabama 35160.
