Kathy was preceded in death by her parents, James Blue Andrew Darby Sr and Beverly Carol Darby. She leaves behind her darling husband, Scott, and her four favorite kids, Benjamin Leach (Laura), Laura Bonner (Paul), Sarah Lee (Jonathan), and Rebekah Sanford (Timothy). Kathy was known as Mimi to 12 wonderful grandchildren. She is also survived by her brothers, Blue Darby Jr., (Cecily) and Randy Darby, her sister, Carol Darby, and many other loving aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Kathy was born and raised in Montgomery, Alabama. She was named for her two grandmothers, Sarah Catherine Hornsby and Mary Jewell Darby as was befitting for a fine Southern lady. She graduated Jefferson Davis High School and in 1980, Kathy and Scott were married. Their song, “I only Have Eyes for You,” was true for the 44 years of their loving marriage. By 1988, Kathy had given birth to 4 children, and she would devote her life to keeping her home, loving her husband, raising her children, and serving her God.
Scott and Kathy faithfully served the Lord at Central Bible Chapel for over 40 years, . A lifelong volunteer in the community, she was a member of the Spinners Club, the Daughters of the American Revolution, and spent many years helping in the schools.
One of the defining characteristics of her life was her hospitality. This went hand in hand with her generosity. She was generous with her friendship, her thoughtfulness, her time, and her care.
As a child, Kathy gave her life to Christ. She was looking forward to this day when she would see her Savior face to face. She wanted each of you to have the peace that comes from knowing Jesus- and if she knew you, she prayed for you. We stand here today in the legacy of her faithfulness.
