Joan Maryann Donnelly

Joan Maryann Donnelly, 84, of Prattville, and formally of Richmond Hill, NY, passed away March 18, 2022. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Linda Yurcik and son in law, Stephen Yurcik. She is survived by her husband James Donnelly; daughter Patty McKay (Ed); grandchildren, John P. McKay, Christopher M. McKay (Erika), Jaimie Herman (Rik) and Stephanie Yurcik and great grandchildren, Brady, Clare and Bennett.

Joan grew up in New York City. She met her husband, James, on a blind date and was married to him for almost 66 years. She affectionately called him “Mr. Wonderful.” It was known as a joke that Joan was “Mrs. Always Right,” and she had a cup to prove it and most of the time she was right! Joan was a Chief Operator at the Midtown Manhattan Sheraton Hotel where she worked for 25 years. She loved the beach, shopping and decorating for all occasions.

To Joan her family was everything! She was always very encouraging to anything her children did in life. Later, she had 4 grandchildren that she was so proud of and was always there for all their accomplishments. Grandma was a good listener and always had time to talk to them. She was also blessed with 3 great grandchildren that truly were the light of her life. Talking and visiting with them brought her great joy and happiness.

Joan was truly looked up to by all who knew her and her family felt lucky to have had her in their lives. Joan was always willing to help anyone. Give her something to do and she was all about getting it completed.

Joan was dearly loved, will be deeply missed and will never be forgotten.

A visitation for Joan will be held Tuesday, March 22, 2022 at Ridouts Prattville Chapel from 12:30 – 2:00 with the funeral service at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Prattville at 2:30.
