

BOAN, James C. “Jim”, 97 of Prattville, passed away Sunday, December 13, 2015. Visitation will begin at 1:30PM at the Prattville First Baptist Church followed by his funeral services at 2:30PM in the church sanctuary with Dr. Travis Coleman and Pastor Dave Burns officiating. Burial with Military Honors will follow in the Montgomery Memorial Cemetery. Mr. Boan was born May 28, 1918 in Butler County, Alabama to the late A.B. “Andy” Boan and Mary Lou McConnell Boan. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II having served in the Panama Canal Zone. He was also an avid fisherman, bowler and a longtime member of the Prattville Baptist Church. Other than his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife, Betty G. Boan and a sister, Grace B. Paige. Mr. Boan is survived by his loving wife Mae Boan; a brother and sister in law Winford and Laurice Boan; nephews, Allen, Barry and Dean Boan; great nephews Barry Boan, Jr., Cy Cain; niece Andrea Cain and her husband, Hubert; step grandchildren Leigh Ann Mays Pitts, Lindy Mays Culver,; a step son, Ron Mays and his wife Pam. Pallbearers will be Mr. Boans’ nephews, along with C.W. White and Charles Welch. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Jimmy Sanford Sunday School Class. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Montgomery Cancer Center or to the First Baptist Church.
