Emmett "Buck" Tatum

Emmett F. “Buck” Tatum, 70, a lifelong Autauga County resident passed away Saturday May 27, 2017. Visitation will be held Tuesday May 30th from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Ridout’s Prattville Chapel. A Celebration of Life will be held Wednesday May 31st at 2:00 PM at the Faith Bible Church with Pastor Gilbert Schellin officiating. Burial will follow in the Tatum Family Cemetery.

“Buck” was born at home on the family farm in Pine Level on June 9, 1946 to the late Emmett O’Neil Tatum and Annie Inella Hollomon Tatum. He was a retired receiving supervisor from Winn Dixie with 22 years of service to the company. He was a lifelong farmer as well and was known for growing some of the best vegetables and would often sell his goods at the Montgomery Curb Market and from his produce stand called “Pea Heaven”. He also made and sold his own brand of hardwood charcoal. He was man of many skills and will always be remembered for his hard work, kindness and willingness to help anyone in need.

Other than his parents he was preceded in death by a grandson, Jerald Brandon Pettit. He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Vivian Davis Tatum; two daughters, Angela Tatum Pettit and her husband, Jerald, Jessica Lee Tatum; two sons, Emmett Franklin “Bubba” Tatum, Jr. and his wife Lesli, Barton LaWayne Tatum and his wife Holly; 13 grandchildren, Justin and Preston Pettit, Joshua, Jonathan, Kristen and Kelsey Tatum, Brianna Martin, Logan and Devin Manning, Laura and Alexis Phelps, Brian (Diane) Hutton, Kylie Hutton; 5 great grandchildren, Addison Harper Tatum, Conner, Caden and Carissa Hutton and Brody Cooper. 2 brothers, John Tatum and his wife Becky, Tommy Tatum and his wife Sue; 4 sisters, Ann Zarych, Lou Day and her husband Tim, Anna Tant and her husband Jack, Pat Rhodes, and a host of nieces, nephews other family members and close friends.

Pallbearers will be Jonathan Tatum, Joshua Tatum, Justin Pettit, Preston Pettit, Damon Manning and Joel Augustin.

Honorary pallbearers will be Logan Manning and Devin Manning.
