Augusta S. Ross

AUTAUGAVILLE – Augusta Shanks Ross, 68, a resident of Autaugaville, AL, passed away on Wednesday, October 22, 2014. Augusta was married for 48 years to her loving high school sweetheart, Jim Ross. Augusta touched many young lives through her 39 years of teaching mathematics. She was preceded in death by her parents, Al Shanks, Sr. and Elsie Shanks, her sister, Judy Skidmore, and her mother-in-law, Pauline Richardson. She is survived by her husband, James M. Ross; her brothers, Bill (Barbara) Shanks and Al (Sheila) Shanks, Jr.; a niece and three nephews; and five great nieces and nephews. A celebration of her life will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, October 26, 2014 at Autaugaville United Methodist Church with Rev. Dan Nixon and Rev. Tony Antonelli officiating. Burial will follow in Rocky Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held Saturday October 25 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Ridout’s Chapel in Prattville, AL. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Autaugaville United Methodist Church or to your favorite charity.
