CAMPBELL, Andrew Leroy, 89, of Millbrook, passed away Sunday July 9, 2017. Visitation will be held Friday July 14th from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Ridout’s Prattville Chapel. A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday July 15th at the Prattville Community Church with Pastors Ricky Smith, Danny Robbins and Clarence A. Thompson, Jr. officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Brookside Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Campbell was born in Crenshaw County, Alabama on April 1, 1928 to the late Andrew A. Campbell and Betty Kilpatrick Campbell, one of 19 siblings. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War and received the National Defense Medal. He served for many years with the City of Montgomery and Elmore County as a heavy equipment operator. He retired at the age of 80 years old. His life’s joy and ministry was singing and playing gospel music with his family. He was a talented musician that mastered many instruments.
He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Wanda Campbell, of Millbrook; two daughters and sons-in-law, Debbie and Jeff Golden of Prattville, Diane and Randall Bass of Prattville; a son and daughter-in-law, Doyle and Bekky Campbell of Millbrook; eight grandchildren, Billy Golden, Amanda Hughes, Ashley Carter, Andrew Bass, Courtney Bell, Calan Campbell, Alex Campbell and Caiden Campbell; ten great-grandchildren, Julie Golden, Bryant Golden, Brent Golden, Wyatt Golden, Grayson Hughes, Christopher Carter, Abigail Carter, Harper Bass, Cayson Bass, Ellyott Grace Bass and a host of nieces, nephews and other family members.
Active pallbearers will be Andrew Bass, Christopher Carter, Nick Carter, Calan Campbell, Alex Campbell, Taylor Bell, Billy Golden and Bryant Golden. Honorary pallbearers will be Chief Larry Brown, Sgt. James Schrader, other members of the Millbrook Fire Department, Sgt. Mike Speigner and other members of the Millbrook Police Department.
