Anthony P. Makitra Jr.

Tony was born in Bath, NY on October 17, 1953, the son of the late Anthony P. and Dorothy (Stockman) Makitra, Sr. Tony worked as a carpenter for the United Brotherhood of Carpenters Local 281 in Horseheads, NY. Tony was a family man and loved spending much of his time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He also enjoyed raising his horses.

Tony is survived by his loving wife, Mary (Angus) Makitra; his children, Anthony (Ericka) Makitra III of TX, Jennifer Makitra of FL, Adam (Michele) Makitra, and Aaron Makitra; his step children, Chad (Nancy) Grover, Crystal (Martin Meza) Grover, and Adam Grover; 14 grandchildren, Kaven, Diana, Alec, Connor, Marissa, Kayleigh, Jaylah, Chad Jr., Taylor, Caitlin, Alexzondra, Wade, Tristin and a soon to be granddaughter; brothers, Robert (Noelle Chaploney) Makitra and Michael Makitra; sisters: Marianne (Patrick) Galvin, Jeanne (Mike) Glass, and Katie Makitra; Godson, Kristoffer Reid; Goddaughter, Lexee Makitra; and several nieces and nephews.

Friends and family may call from 2 to 4pm and 6 to 8pm on Monday, June 17th at Bottoni-Wood Funeral Home, 4 Mechanic St., Prattsburgh. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, June 18th at 10 am at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Prattsburgh. Interment will follow at St. Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery in Prattsburgh.

Memorial donations may be made in Tony’s memory to the Strong Memorial Congestive Heart Failure Transplant Unit.
