January 16, 2015 at her residence in the village of Potsdam. A mass of
Christian burial will be held on Wednesday, January 21st at St. Mary's
Church at 11am with Msgr. Robert Aucoin celebrant. Friends may call at the
Garner Funeral Service on Tuesday from 4-7pm. Burial will take place in the
spring at St. Mary's Cemetery. Contributions in her memory can be made to
the Potsdam Animal Shelter if one desires. On line condolences can be shared
Ruth is survived by her husband Robert Yates; children Lana (Vernon "Skip")
Hobbs, Gary (Carol) Palmer, Laurie (Marcel) Poirier and Sherry (Rick) Palmer
Gary; sister Agnes "Timmy" Lawrence; grandchildren Angela and Jeremy Palmer,
Cory, Jarid, Monique, Kasey and Mikalea Poirier and Adam and Jordan Gary;
great grandchildren Leon, Kali, Kamryn, Keigan and McKenna and several
nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her first husband Robert Palmer;
her second husband Steven Kromko; a baby Linda Jean Palmer who died in 1955,
a great granddaughter Haylee Poirier and her brother George Wilson.
Mrs. Ruth M. Yates was born on October 15, 1934 in North Adams, MA to the
late George M. Wilson and Ruby M. Duval. She was a 1952 graduate of
Chateaugay High School. In 1952 Ruth was married to Robert Palmer in Lyon
Mountain, NY. He died in 1965. In 1970 she was married to Steven
(Moose)Kromko. He died in 1979. She graduated from Beauticians School in
1980. She was the owner and operator of Parishville Hair Affair until her
retirement in 1996. She was a member of St. Michael's Church and of St.
Mary's Church and was a member of the Golden Girls Quilt Club in
Parishville. Ruth enjoyed bingo, baking, bowling, knitting, crocheting and
visiting with her friends and family. She loved animals and always had a dog
or cat at home, and babysat for her grand dogs.
