John (Johnny) William Whalen, age 68, of Colton passed away suddenly on February 27, 2025. A celebration of life with family and friends will be at the family’s convenience. John was born in Potsdam on July 10, 1956. He was the oldest son of the late John (Jack) and Anna Whalen. John is survived by his brothers Paul (Marta) Whalen, Peter (Laura) Whalen, Raymond and Mark Whalen and his sister Mary Jane (Scott) Smalling as well as a large extended family. He was a Graduate of Potsdam Central High School. John loved hunting, fishing and being surrounded by nature. He enjoyed spending summers at camp on Stark Reservoir.
