Mr. James E. Clough, age 92 of Potsdam, NY passed away on September 28th at the Canton Potsdam Hospital. A private burial with full military honors will take place at Bayside Cemetery on Tuesday, October 3rd. Friends may call at the Garner Funeral Service on Monday, October 2nd from 4-7 pm. James is survived by his daughters Sharon (George) Kahn and Susan (Norman) Buck, a son Terry (Robin) Clough; a sister Anne Kelly; grandchildren David and Justin Kahn, Jason Buck, Katherine Zamore, Jeremy Buck, Andrew, Ethan and James Clough; 2 great-grandchildren Rose Kahn and Conner Clough; and several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his wife Shirley Clough and a sister Jane Clough.
Mr. James E. Clough was born on May 5, 1925 in Sayer, PA to the late Nelson Clough and Edna Blount. He was raised in Potsdam and was a 1943 graduate of Potsdam High School. He then served his country in the United States Navy. He was a WWII veteran and served in the Pacific Theatre. Upon his honorable discharge, he returned to the North Country. On September 3, 1949 James married Shirley Wilkins at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Massena, NY. Mr. Clough worked for the United Postal Service as a mail carrier for many years retiring in 1980. He was an active FreeMason for many years. and was very involved. He enjoyed fishing, woodworking, and spending time with his grandchildren.
