Elda L. Russell, 85, passed away peacefully on the 7th of February in the presence of her children at the St. Regis Nursing Home. Formerly of Potsdam, Elda was born January 29, 1927 to Wilfred and Mabel Bradish. She attended local schools and was valedictorian of her graduating class. She married Harris J. Russell on September 10, 1945. She was a homemaker who enjoyed her family, cooking, music and her beloved cats.
Elda is predeceased by her husband of 67 years, two sisters Marie Pommerville and Lorna Manley, three brothers William Bradish, Lawrence (Buster) Bradish and Seward Bradish, two grandsons, Daniel Jones and Jeremiah Sommerfield.
She is survived by her sister Arlene Green of the St. Regis Nursing Home, her children Dennis Russell and partner Linda Stark, Winthrop; her daughter Janet Brown and husband Richard of Hannawa Falls, her son David and wife Judy of Parishville, her son Bruce and wife Debbie of North Carolina, her daughter Nancy Murphy and husband Frank of Carthage and her daughter Diane Cougler and husband Joey of Pierrepont; 14 grandchildren Darcy Purdy, Nikki Putnam, Marci Jones, Kyle Jone, Davey Russell, Jared Russell, Kurt Russell, Amy Horrigan, Krista Russell, Julie Yates, Jessica Fonda Black, Amanda Fonda, Jason Robillard, Jamie Mesceda; 19 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.
Arrangements are with the Garner Funeral Service. There will be a private family service with no calling hours with a graveside service in the spring. In lieu of flowers, a contribution may be made to the Potsdam Humane Society or the Hospice and Palliative Care of the St. Lawrence Valley. Online condolences can be sent @www.garnerfh.com.
