Mrs. Diane L. Rutley, age 74 of Norwood, passed away at Canton-Potsdam Hospital on Thursday March 9, 2017, while under the care of Hospice and Palliative care of St. Lawrence Valley and her loving family at her side. A Celebration of Life will be held 11 am on Friday, March 17th at the Knapp Station Community Church with Pastor Lee Sweeney officiating.
Diane was born January 8, 1943 to the late Charles and Lillian (Magnan) McGowan in Massena. She graduated from Norwood High school. She married the love of her life, William Rutley on September 8, 1961. They were married for 53 years before William passed. Diane worked for the office of the aging as a case worker for 25 years. Diane will be remembered for her great baking, the love of her flowers gardens and the great care giver she was to her family.
Diane is survived by a son Timothy and Denise of Wisconsin; her daughters, Allison and Phillip Adams, Kim Rutley and Cathleen Rutley all of Potsdam; a brother Norman and Ellen McGowan of Chittenango; and a sister Marie Baxter of West Stockholm; eight grandchildren Jamie, Lindsay, Shea, Chelsea, Abbie, Haley, Chase and Alexie; and two great grandchildren Amaiyah and Maxen, along with many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by a brother William McGowan and a sister Carol and Walt Rogers.
