Yvette was born in Swansea, Wales to Pierre and Marguerite Roche. Yvette was raised in the Catholic faith, but later in life found fulfillment in the Buddhist faith as a member of Kagyu Changchub Chuling Dharma Center.
Yvette graduated with her Master's Degree in 14th Century French Literature from Swansea University.
She went on to teach French at Hull University in Northern England, University of London, Stanford, Lewis & Clark, Linfield College and PSU. After meeting through mutual friends in Paris, she married Laurin Johnson in 1964 (in London) and the pair remained together for the next 14 years.
Following many years as a University Professor, Yvette moved onto a rewarding career with the State of Oregon helping people that have been injured on the job. Yvette found fulfillment in supporting many charities throughout her life. She volunteered for St Vincent DePaul and No One Dies Alone (NODA) people who are dying and have no family or friends to be with them.
Yvette was a Master Gardener and enjoyed her time outdoors. Later in life, she was the volunteer landscape designer for her condominium complex for many years. The focus of Yvette's life was her children and grandchildren and supporting numerous charitable organizations. She is fondly remembered as an intellectual, fiercely independent woman; and she is dearly missed by many family members and friends.
Yvette is in the care of Skyline Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home in Portland, Oregon.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.skylinememorialgardens.com for the Johnson family.
