William J. Schumacher (Bill) was born in Portland, Oregon August 26, 1929 and passed away in Beaverton, Oregon on March 13, 2019. He was part owner of the Schumacher Fur Company, a hundred year old business started by his grandfather Louis Schumacher in 1894. During his full life, he was in the Legion of Honor Chevalier in Demolay of Oregon, a honored member of the Oregon Jaycee’s, 11 year Army Reservist achieving Sargent First Class rank, Royal Rosarian, Scout Master, lead supporter of the Salvation Army Charity Drives, long standing member with the Kiwanis Club of Portland sponsoring numerous kids with special needs to attend their summer camp at Mt. Hood, and a was a generous supporter to many causes, but never sought recognition. He enjoyed the outdoors. He was a graduate of Lincoln High School and lived in the greater Portland area his entire life. He was a faithful husband to Dorothy since their marriage in 1952. He is survived by his wife Dorothy, his only son Kevin, and his older sister Louise (Toni) Taylor. The family will be holding a private service at Sunset Hills Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Salvation Army or the church of their choice with Bill in mind.
