Vivian ‘Ann’ Fowler was born to Lloyd (Bud) and Colleen Fowler on June 27, 1951 in El Paso, Texas. Her family moved from Texas to California, and later to Arizona as her father advanced through the Goodyear Corporation. Her brother, Preston, was born November 11, 1958.
Ann graduated in June 1968 from Alhambra high school in Yuma, Arizona. Randall Schecter (Randy) was her high school sweetheart. When she graduated high school and turned 18, she followed Randy to the University of Arizona in Tucson where she began her pre-med studies with the ambition of becoming a pediatrician. They soon married and within three years, their first son Adam was born on August 16th, 1972. With her education put on hold, after Randy graduated college, the family moved to Cheney Washington where she worked while Randy attended Eastern Washington State and earned his master’s degree. They then moved to Longview, Washington where she worked and raised Adam while Randy went to work as a school counselor.
Her marriage to Randy ended and Ann moved back to Phoenix where she met and married Dennis Fritch (her husband of 26 years). On April 5th, 1983, they welcomed her second son, Aaron Fritch.
Approximately a year and a half after Aaron was born, Dennis, Ann and the boys moved to Oregon to be closer to her mother and brother. Once there, she enrolled at PSU and changed her major to business and earned her bachelor’s degree.
Ann went to work as a corporate buyer and in time bought a home in the West Union/Oak Hills area where they lived for over 20 yrs. During this period of time, Ann and Dennis adopted Dawn Bohlman, the daughter of Dennis’ late close friend, and welcomed her into their family.
Ann worked for a variety of companies such as Fender Musical, Fujitsu Computer Products, and Mentor Graphics. As a working female in the 80’s, she had advanced and worked as a very successful senior level buyer. Ann had struggle with health issues during much of her life, and over time, resulted in the end of her career.
After 26 years, Dennis and Ann’s marriage ended. When her mother’s dementia worsened and increasingly became unsafe for her to live alone, Ann moved in and became her Mom’s 24/7 caretaker for approximately five years until it was necessary for Colleen to move to assisted living.
Ann continued to care for her mom by attending medical appointments with her, shopping, etc. In the process, Ann was learning to live her own life again. Always a faithful and steadfast praying Christian, Ann was very active in the community, church, friends and neighbors, and with her grandchildren and family. Near and dear to her was putting an end to the devastating problems and consequences of human trafficking.
Her hobbies and interests included reading, gardening, dogs, her aquariums of fish, cooking and baking, volunteering at school and church, the beach, vacationing in Hawaii and warm climates, holidays, and being a disciple of God.
Ann was preceded by her previous husbands, Randy and Dennis, mother, Colleen, and her nephew Ryan. She is survived by her father - Bud Fowler, brother - Preston Fowler, her three children - Adam Schecter, Dawn (and husband ER) Connell, and Aaron Fritch. She is also survived by
