Stewart Ying Mah, age 88, of Portland, Oregon, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 10, 2024. Born in Hong Kong, China, Stewart spent his early years in Canton before moving to Edmonton, Canada, at sixteen. There, he began a journey that would eventually lead him to Oregon, where he attended South Salem High School and later earned a degree from Oregon State University.
Stewart built a successful career in accounting and settled in the Portland area, where he devoted himself to both his work and his family. In 1969, fate brought him together with the love of his life, Kunie Aizawa, at a friend’s gathering. Their connection was immediate and deep, and they were married in January 1970. Kunie and Stewart shared over five decades of love, laughter, and unwavering partnership, building a family rooted in kindness, resilience, and dedication.
A man of quiet strength and warmth, Stewart was known for his love of the open road, delighting in family road trips, camping, and hiking adventures. He took great pride in keeping an immaculate yard and cherished time in the kitchen, where he would prepare meals to bring loved ones together. Stewart’s devotion to his family extended to his beloved dogs, and he instilled in his two sons, Jeff and Eddie, values of integrity, focus, and loyalty.
Stewart's presence will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His spirit lives on in the love and memories he shared with family and friends, and his legacy of kindness and dedication will continue to inspire.
Stewart will be laid to rest at Skyline Memorial Gardens in Portland, Oregon, where he will remain forever close to his loved ones.
