Steven John Wittrock, aged 74, passed away on February 13, 2024 at his home surrounded by his family. He was a beloved father, husband, brother and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Steve was born on October 11, 1949 in Carroll, Iowa, where he spent his formative years. He served for four years in the United States Navy where he was an Aviation Jet Mechanic and helped launch planes off the USS Ranger Aircraft carrier off the coast of Vietnam during that conflict.
More than anything, Steve was a devoted father. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren, sharing stories, playing games, and watching their favorite TV shows. He was always there to offer guidance, support, and encouragement, no matter what challenges they faced.
After many years working as a diesel mechanic, Steve enjoyed his retirement by tinkering on old vehicles and dabbled in camping. He was always eager to visit and share his stories with others. He enjoyed watching football and was a devoted Green Bay Packers fan.
Steve is survived by his wife, Cheryl, his children, Shilo (Scott) Laccino, Joshua (Nikki) Wittrock, Stephanie Wittrock (Eugene), and Joshua Harral -- and his grandchildren, Jacob, Brady, Averi, Colten, Caystin, Isabella, and Colesyn. His memory will be cherished by all who knew him.
Steve was preceded in death by his parents Walter and LaVerne Wittrock, brother-in-law Rudy Wolf and brother Joel Wittrock.
A funeral service with military honors will be held at Lincoln Memorial Park & Funeral Home in Portland, Oregon at 12:30 pm on Wednesday, February 21, 2024. A committal service with US Navy honors will follow at 2 pm at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland, Oregon.
